Honored to have received @scasla_uclax ‘s silver

Honored to have received @scasla_uclax ‘s silver medal award for my 2 designs this year at @uclaxlandarch ‘s annual student show.

The first design was for a concept design development class where we were challenged to create a world-class destination park around Judy Bacca’s mural along a channel of the LA river.

The second award was for a Planting Design class in which I created a sustainable planting & maintenance plan for a wellness spa in Augura Hills.

2 years of studies completed and 1 left to go at UCLA Extension’s Landscape Architecture Program. I’m grateful for the students and teachers from whom I’ve learned so much.

The above site plans, sections and drawings are a sampling from my most recent design classes down to my very first one. They range from using 3D modeling software (Sketchup and Twin Motion), Adobe suite, Morpholio Trace, pen & paper, and foam with a glue gun.

Landscape architecture is a beautiful marriage of both science and art. The amount of work that it sometimes entails is gargantuan, but I enjoy it so much. I am excited for this last year and what the future holds.

The Mediterranean is a magical place. This sleepy

The Mediterranean is a magical place. This sleepy town of Dénia off the coast of Valencia regenerated our creative spirits.

It always enlivens my spirit to be back in the cou

It always enlivens my spirit to be back in the country of my birth. The Spaniards are overall more friendly and outgoing than the average stranger in Los Angeles (despite their socio-economic class). Their love and respect for children also runs deep.

It was really fun to explore Madrid as a landscape architecture student. Europe in general is rich with architectural history and is more environmentally responsible than the US. Madrid is plush with city parks that were donated for public use hundreds of years ago. Mature and healthy trees line the majority of the city streets, and playgrounds with tree canopy abound.

Today marks the 1 month anniversary of my Mom, Sal

Today marks the 1 month anniversary of my Mom, Sally’s, passing.

She was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis when she was 44 years old. She battled this crippling disease for over 35 years. In spite of the 14+ surgeries and decades of living with severe physical handicaps, she maintained an incredible amount of patience, positivity and sense of humor.

She knew how to make people feel at ease around her and made an impression on everyone she met. She was so beautiful, smart, intuitive, courageous and strong. She had some magic in her - a strong light, spirit and grace that will always be remembered and admired.

In the past month I feel that I’ve grown closer and gotten to know her even better.

I love you Mom, for all the love and gifts that you have given me.

One of my favorite instruments, the Moog Prodigy. Produced from 1979-1984. Used by Blur, Depeche Mode, Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, and countless others. So much versatility and power in such a small instrument. I love.

@mononoid_music has done an amazing job creating a moody and epic dance track with my vocals.

Many times as a musician, one works on projects that may never see the light of day. So happy that this made it out in the world and is getting the attention it deserves (including a @beatport top page banner!). It was written and sung with a lot of heart. 🖤

We had such a beautiful time on the sleepy and stu

We had such a beautiful time on the sleepy and stunning Balearic island of Menorca. The Mediterranean flora was brimming with health and resilience despite a record-setting heatwave this past summer. Even Ailanthus altissima (tree of heaven) added a strong sense of place to the serenity of the island.

We were honored to celebrate the union of dear friends in Mahón as well visit family in Madrid.

A few months ago I started the Landscape Architect

A few months ago I started the Landscape Architecture certificate program at UCLA Extension with the hope of becoming a sustainable steward of the land in my community and beyond. My love of gardening and science, along with life changes and a “sprinkling” of climate change anxiety, have graciously allured me into this field.

I’m still making music and continue to dive into it with more purpose than ever. (More news on that front soon!)

For now, here are some plan view drawings and photos of a 3D model I made of an elementary school I designed. There is also a section line and plan view drawing of a quadrant in Tongva Park, Santa Monica. All drawings were done in pencil on vellum.
